Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India ARDSI - Cochin chapter

Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI), India’s first ever professional continuum for Alzheimer’s disease care and research, bloomed as an informal gathering at Cochin in 1992.A group of volunteers under the chairmanship of Dr Jacob Roy Kuriakose pioneered the integration of health care system and community for effective bio-medical and psycho-social care for dementia. First of its kind in India, ARDSI is extended across 20 states of India with 12dementia care centres and 18 acknowledged regional offices (chapters). ARDSI is at present in the forefront to disseminate knowledge about Dementia and community Services.

Although ARDSI- Cochin chapter is the cornerstone for building the Alzheimer’s & Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) as a sole national voice for dementia, it recently got a separate registration as the national level organizational policy demands to have separate entity like other regional chapters in India. ARDSI Cochin chapter has thus become an officially recognised chapter for Dementia care services at Ernakulam region under the purview of ARDSI national governing counsel.
